What I learned about lying:

Come into the game late and use that as a good reason for being unsure of things, because that was one of my reasons. I jumped in and had no idea what to do.

Whatever your role, make sure you stay in character. I had to add a few humorous things, like calling myself a 'retard' to make me not sound as serious about the position I had put myself in.
Also, if someone accuses you, don't jump to the defence immediately, I made that mistake. Let at least one other person post first and then calmly address the accusation/s one at a time. If an accusation IS true, don't ignore it, it'll look like your avoiding the truth. Instead point out that the accuser has a good point, but only if you have a 'reason' for your action that makes sense.

That's what I got out of it...

I think they mean that it's best they don't take that path since it's now evident to the majority (not that it's an ineffective method).

I was just expressing my opinion. I'd just rather people vote for who they believe is a rat and also reduce the chance of lynching. However you are right when that it is stupid because it gives rats a massive advantage as they could just pile all 3 votes on one person and most likely win and it removes some assessment even if the results are posted afterwards with specific voting choice information.

I did enjoy the game, but I'm not sure I'd participate in another purely because I don't have much time to spend online anymore.
